Muscle that originates in the distal femur and attaches to the proximal tibia (Soler et al., 2004; Azevedo et al., 2024. It is the shorter of two muscles that flex the femur-tibia joint (Azevedo et al., 2020; Azevedo et al., 2024. It is composed of 29 fibers (Kuan et al., 2020. (Azevedo et al., 2024, Azevedo et al., 2020, Soler et al., 2004, Kuan et al., 2020)
Miller (1950) call this a depressor (show one large and one small tibial depressor per leg). Soler et al., 2004 refer to this (smaller) muscle as a tibia reductor. Azevedo et al., 2020, 2022) say that this muscle flexes the femur-tibia joint and it is referred to in Azevedo et al., 2024 as the 'accessory tibia flexor'.
